The Patek Philippe Ref. 3941J is an exceptionally rare variation of one of the manufacture's most important modern perpetual calendars. Introduced alongside the legendary Ref. 3940 family in the mid-1980s, the 3941 was distinguished by its sapphire exhibition case back, allowing the owner to view the ultra-thin Caliber 240 Q and its micro-rotor. Despite measuring only 36mm, the 3941J houses a full perpetual calendar capable of mechanically accounting for months of different lengths as well as leap years. Three beautifully balanced subsidiary displays communicate the day, date, month, moonphase, leap-year cycle, and 24-hour indication. At its heart is the legendary Patek Philippe Caliber 240 Q, an ultra-thin automatic perpetual-calendar movement built around a recessed 22K gold micro-rotor. The movement's architecture allowed Patek Philippe to produce a remarkably slim perpetual calendar while preserving the classical proportions expected of a traditional dress watch. The sapphire back of the 3941 was specifically created in response to clients who wanted to see this movement—making the exposed Caliber 240 Q an essential part of the reference's identity. 

Paired here with a black leather strap and 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe tang buckle, the 3941J is an exceptionally traditional presentation of an increasingly important collector reference.
