The balance must be right.  This applies not only to the 29er as a sailing dinghy, but also to the 29er Day/Date.  When the wind is really tugging at the sail and the foresailor is hanging with all his weight in the harness of the fast racing dinghy, the right balance decides whether you win or sink.  Equally important to us was the balanced relationship between the date and weekday display in the development of the 29er Day/Date.  These were placed at 3 and 9 o'clock, underlining the straightforward character of the 29er.
